MANIPUR TOURIST DESTINATION SPOTS

Manipur has many natural as well as heritage spots. Tourists flock to this north-eastern Indian state round the year.

These spots are the Tourist Home near the Siroi Hills under Ukhrul District, the MAASI (Manipur Adventure and Allied Sports Institute) Complex at Keirao, and at Sudarshan Park (Lamdan) adjacent to the Loktak Hydroelectric Power Project (LHPP).

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS

A popular tourist destination spot is the largest natural fresh water lake of the world – Loktak. This enchanting lake also has floating villages.

Countless exotic flora and fauna have their habitats in the state. Mention may be made of the medicinal plants and the exotic Siroy Lily besides the dancing deer known locally as the ‘Sangai’.

Moreover, Manipur has many heritage sites. Some of these are pilgrimage spots for tourists from across the globe. Mention may be made of the World War-II cemeteries. Another popular destination for the visitors to Manipur is the Imas’ Market.  The specialty of this bazaar is that the shopkeepers are all women.
