GANG-NGAI

The Kabui Nagas of Manipur observe the five-day long Gang-Ngai festival.

The major part of the maiden day of the Gang-Ngai festival is engaged in religious omen rituals. The other four days of the Gang-Ngai fest are quite fun-filled. Community feasts are also held.

The entire Kabui Naga community celebrates the Gang-Ngai festival with songs and dances.

The Gang-Ngai festival begins with an elaborate traditional ceremony.

During the religious session, the priests of the Kabui Naga community carry out traditional religious ceremonies.

The Kabui Nagas believe in the results of these rituals as they get to know of their future.

In a way, the Gang-Ngai ceremonies are prophecies.

The community is also given the remedial measures for events that may portend dangerous trend for the community.
