EAST KAMENG DISTRICT: LOCATION

The East Kameng District is located between 92° 36" E to 93° 24" E longitude and 26° 56" to 27° 59" N longitude.

The East Kameng District is situated at an altitude of 362 meters above the sea level.

The East Kameng district shares common boundaries with three districts of Arunachal Pradesh and one district of Assam. The three Arunachal districts are to its west (West Kameng District), east (Papumpare District), and north (a portion of the Lower Subansiri District).

On the southern side is the Assam district of Sonitpur.

On the northern side of the East Kameng District is the Indo-China border. A section of the demarcation point – the MacMohan Line – touches the East Kameng district on this side.

This MacMohan Line is deemed as the international border between India and China.

According to the 2001 Census, the total population of East Kameng District is 57,179.

Of this, 28, 377 are females while 28,802 are males.

The density of population in East Kameng District is 14 persons per sq. km.

SURFACE COMMUNICATION

One can reach Seppa by the road communication. There are two routes to Seppa.

One is via Bhalukpong in Sonitpur District of Assam. Bhalukpong is 430 km from Seppa. 

The other route is via Sagali which is 210 km away from the district headquarters of Changlang District.

BUS SERVICE

Bus services are available from Tezpur in Assam and also Itanagar.

Some of the remotest parts of the East Kameng District are not reachable by road transport. You will have to hike to see the scenic beauty of those spots.
